We will miss Marshall Philpitt, who passed away on Nov 9th, at the age of 89. The photo is of Marshall's name badge and empty seat at the Nov 10th meeting- photo courtesy of Ron Rogus.

He was a decorated World War II US Air Force pilot, long-time Rotarian, respected business man and loving husband/father.  He is survived by two daughters, Judy Williams (David E.) of Round Hill, VA and Joan Marsengill (Michael E.) of Boca Raton, FL, two siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family.

Marshall joined Rotary in 1945 and was active at both the Miami Rotary club, including serving as president, and the Rotary Club of Leesburg. His son-in-law said it so well, "Rotary was one of Marshall's true loves".

Marshall was remembered and honored at numerous Veteran's Day celebrations. Seventeen members of his Rotary Club of Leesburg family joined Marshall's family and other friends to celebrate his life at the Purcellville Baptist Church on Sunday, where Phil Rusciolelli led VFW members in saluting and honoring their fellow veteran.

Interment services will be held with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium, on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11 am.
